HOW can we increase our happiness by tricking our brains?
Well, it's been shown that our physiology can affect our psychology.
In a recent study published in the Journal of Experimental Psychology, researchers found smiling — even a fake smile, can positively impact our mood, increasing happiness.
Basically, smiling triggers certain facial muscles and this 'tricks' your brain into thinking you’re happy. The brain then also releases neurotransmitters (our body's chemical messengers) dopamine, endorphins and serotonin.
However, that doesn't mean you'll need to fake a smile in order to feel happy.
Here are some other ways to increase your happiness:
• Connect with others
• Do what you're most passionate about
• Reflect on your blessings
• Practice Gratitude
• Live in the moment
