CHINESE car manufacturer Great Wall Motor (GWM) has just premiered its all new Haval H6 Hybrid SUV at the 42nd Bangkok International Motor Show at Challenger Hall 1-3, IMPACT Muang Thong Thani, which will be running from the March 24 to the April 4, 2021.
GWM wants to reinforce its position in the fast growing electric vehicle segment, in China as well as the Asean region. GWM is represented in Malaysia via Haval Malaysia who has been in business for some years now selling their compact hatchback as well as their compact SUV.
This all new Haval H6 Hybrid SUV on display at the motor show is the right-hand-drive version, which means its arrival in Malaysia is around the corner. Its immediate competitor will be the popular Proton X70 (which is a rebadged Geely Bo Yue) and its pricing should be very competitive.
In July 2020, this new Haval H6 was spotted by our reader being tested in Klang Valley with Malaysian registration plates which means its launch is around the corner.
It is equipped with the two-wheel driving system and its powertrain combines a 1.5-liter turbo engine with a 130-kW electric motor, resulting in combined power output of 243hp and integrated torque of 530Nm.
Sporting 19-inch alloy wheels, this new hybrid SUV has overall dimensions as follows. It is 1,886mm wide, 4,653 long and has a height of 1,724 mm. It has a wheelbase of 2,738 mm which makes it a relatively bigger SUV in its class, ensuring the better seating comfort of rear passengers and rear cargo storage.
GWM in 2019 unveiled a plan in China for a range of full electric vehicles. The following year they showed a couple of concept compact EV’s in China, as well as Thailand as a teaser of what will be launched after the Covid-19 lockdowns.
The new compact EV range since then has been expanded and GWM now has three (3) ready for sale cars and one (1) concept. They are called the ORA Good Cat, ORA Black Cat, POER EV, and “Concept H”, the concept car.
The GWA ‘ORA Good Cat’ compact electric car was recently spotted in Klang (see spyshot on car trailer), Selangor on a vehicle transporter heading out of port on its way into the city.
This full electric car has a possible 400 km driving range and a battery system that can be charged in just 30 minutes. The ORA is an electric vehicle sub-brand of Great Wall Motors.
Designed by Emanuel Derta, who was part of the ‘Porsche design team’, he is responsible for the exterior design of this five-door cute EV. Look at the nose of this Chinese manufactured EV and you will see elements of Porsche 911 in its looks. Curved front fenders with a rounded front nose mimics the Porsche Panamera. At the rear you get slim tail-lights and a curvaceous rump. It is a clean design which might have some mistaking it for the previous 2010 Nissan Micra or even a restyled VW Beetle. – The Vibes, March 26, 2021
