SIX members of a family died, including a six-month-old baby, in an accident involving a tipper truck and an SUV, in Kampung Baru Pinang Tunggal in Tikam Batu, about 11.8km from Kepala Batas in Penang.
Tikam Batu Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Assistant Fire Chief Fauzi Shuaib said his department received a call regarding the incident at 3.46 pm, and a team was immediately dispatched to the location.
"The accident involved a lorry with a 10-tonne load and a Proton X50 SUV with seven individuals on board, including a baby.
"Six victims were confirmed dead at the scene by Ministry of Health (MOH) personnel, while a three-year-old girl was seriously injured and taken to hospital," he said.
Four of the deceased were identified as Ahmad Shafiq Ahmad Shukri, 27, Nora Mhd Husin, 55, Jamaliah Sannusi, 27, and Ahmad Fahim Ahmad Shukri, 21.
"A seven-year-old boy and a six-month-old baby (gender not yet determined) also died.
"Another girl identified as Aulia Sofea Ahmad Shafiq, 3, was seriously injured in the accident," he said. – June 7, 2026
