GLOBAL technology leader Xiaomi announces its official smartphone partnership for the fifteenth edition of the BMW Shorties – Malaysia’s most prestigious and longest running short film competition for emerging filmmakers and digital content creators. Kicking off the partnership, viewers will see the premiere of the BMW Shorties alumni Dick Chua, Ananth Subramaniam and Tan Ce Ding’s short films shot entirely with the new Mi 11 smartphone, on Xiaomi Malaysia’s official Facebook page.

Xiaomi’s partnership with the BMW Shorties also brings about a newly-introduced category called the 'Mobile Filmmaking Award' – where emerging filmmakers and digital content creators will shoot their films entirely using a mobile device. More details of the category will be released soon on Xiaomi and the BMW Shorties’ Facebook pages.

Mi 11 turns any novice photo and video enthusiast into a film director with its studio-grade camera features and pro performance. Entering its fifteenth competition year, the BMW Shorties has provided over 1,000 emerging talents in Malaysia a platform to express their creativity since 2006. This year’s theme – CHARGE, befits the new normal as it challenges Malaysians to not only embrace change but to be resilient and to thrive in it; charging boldly towards greater possibilities.

The BMW Shorties alumnus – Dick Chua, Ananth Subramaniam and Tan Ce Ding are the BMW Shorties grand prize winners of year 2012, 2018 and 2016, respectively, each having showcased great work through their compelling narratives and beautiful visuals.
