KUALA LUMPUR – Art In The City (AITC) 2021 organised by the Cultural Economy Development Agency (Cendana) under the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia (KKMM) was held in early October and the closing ceremony of AITC 2021 was officiated by the Minister of Communications and Multimedia Tan Sri Annuar Musa yesterday at RexKL, Jalan Sultan, Kuala Lumpur.

Annuar in his speech stated the creative industry which includes multimedia, arts, culture and heritage has become increasingly important, not only as a source of entertainment and cultural development but also has great potential to contribute to economic growth.

The government under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) has recognised the creative industry as one of the strategic and high-impact industries that will be given special focus.

Meanwhile, Annuar also stated that the government through KKMM recognises the importance of the role of arts and culture for the country, not only from the economic aspect but also from a humanitarian point of view.

The rehabilitation and reconstruction of cultural arts activities will indirectly heal the soul of the nation and Keluarga Malaysia impacted by various challenges following the Covid-19 pandemic.

KKMM invites the arts and culture community to work with the ministry through the Creative Task Force to create a systematic ecosystem so that the country's creative industry can continue to grow, he added.
