KUALA LUMPUR – Miss Plus World Malaysia (MPWM), the preliminary to the international pageant Miss Plus World, has opened registrations for plus-sized beauties from Malaysia to submit their entries.

Over 600 potential candidates will be called to attend the national auditions that will take place from May 6 to 28, 2022 in four states: Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Sabah and Sarawak.

Out of the applicants, only 40 will be selected as finalists. At the national auditions, applicants will present themselves in front of beauty experts and queen judges.

The selected 40 finalists have to go to a semi-final in August this year before entering the grand finale. Out of the 40 pre-selected finalists only 24 will be chosen to go to the finale and six of them will be on the waiting list.

MPWM has decided to have very strict auditions during the pre-selection in May and the semi-final in August. This is to make sure that the last selected finalists have all that it takes to go to the finals, said its national director, Ziinine Britshi.

“The contestants have to exemplify their individuality with poise, grace and wit. The winner of Miss Plus World Malaysia is not only a beauty queen with causes. She is also an ambassador for empowerment, healthy lifestyle, elegance and humanitarianism,” Ziinine added.

The semi-finals for 2022 is set for August 12, while the Grand Final Gala is scheduled for December 11, 2022.

Selected finalists will go through intensive training programmes from June 2022 till the finals. The programmes are designed to groom, transform and prepare them mentally and physically for the pageant finale.

The objectives of Miss Plus World Malaysia are to increase interest in a healthy lifestyle, leadership, raise funds for underprivileged children, refugees, homeless, old folks. It aims to provide public education on the importance of exercise, a healthy lifestyle, women empowerment, and generate a spirit of community involvement and volunteerism.

“Our vision of the Miss Plus World Pageant is to showcase the diversity, creativity, leadership, style, grace, and beauty of women from across the world,” said Ziinine.
