POTHOLES have long been an issue for motorists and the country and have even been the cause of serious accidents, especially involving motorcyclists.
Often, some of these potholes are left unattended for long periods, much to the frustration of motorists and residents in the area.
Recently a video went viral on social media showing a man boldly painting the words 'Duit Saya' (my money) on a pothole that he patched up himself.
The incident took place along Jalan Hulubalang in Taman Sentosa, Klang.
A motorcyclist was said to have been injured due to the pothole and despite numerous complaints, nothing was done.
The man, believed to be a resident nearby, decided to fix it himself and later wrote the words 'Duit Saya' on it, making sure no one else took credit for it.
In the video, he is heard saying “This is my money, this is your money. This is not YB’s money. We do this so that they don’t claim credit. Otherwise, (even if) we use our money, people will claim credit for it,” he said in the video.
Netizens who saw the video shared similar incidents.
Following the viral video, the assemblyman for the area, Dr Gunaraj George said the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) had already been advised to repair the pothole.
He said Jalan Hulubalang suffered such damage due to rain and heavy vehicles using the route.
He said a meeting has since been held with the president of the MPK Datin Paduka Noraini Roslan to ensure that priority is given to fixing potholes, not only in Taman Sentosa but Klang in general.
Gunaraj also thanked the man in the video for taking the initiative to fix the pothole. - The Vibes, January 12, 2024
