AFRAID her family may find out about her pregnancy, a 20-year-old college student from Jempol lodged a false police report claiming she was raped by an intruder.

In the incident on Tuesday, Jempol police chief, Hoo Chang Hook said it was later discovered the student became pregnant after being intimate with her boyfriend.

"We discovered something was not right after her statements were inconsistent.

"She had earlier lodged a report claiming a masked intruder entered her house in Kampung Serting Ilir, Bahau, about 6.15pm on Monday, forced her into a room and raped her," he said as reported by Sinar Harian.

Hoo said police had also sent a forensics team to her house to search for clues.

"The team did not get any specimen or evidence of a rape. The student was also taken to the Jempol Hospital where doctors revealed that there were no injuries related to rape and that she was five months pregnant," he said.

Further checks revealed that the student who is pursuing her Diploma had also spoken with her boyfriend after she lodged the police report.

Based on the conversations, Hoo said police began doubting her story and decided to question her more.

"Upon further questioning, she admitted she had lied and that she became pregnant after having sex with her boyfriend," he added.

The case is being investigated under Section 182 of the Penal Code about false information where offenders can be jailed for up to six months or fined up to RM2,000 or both upon conviction. - The Vibes, January 18, 2024
