A MALAY-owned car workshop in Banting has won praise and admiration for its show of racial tolerance after it took in a Chinese intern who was rejected by many other companies.
In a Facebook post by Azam Motor Banting, the company said the intern, whom they call “Keong”, sought placement with them after being rejected by many workshops, including those owned by Chinese.
“Keong came to Azam Motor branch in October last year. He had been rejected by many other workshops and was finding it difficult to secure a placement.
“We welcomed him, and he has since shown a very keen willingness to learn from his Malay seniors.
“For us, Keong is smart and committed to his work. This is what is important, regardless of one’s skin colour or race ... we work as a team.”
The post has since been widely shared and garnered close to 2,000 positive comments from netizens.
Netizens said the post was inspiring and applauded the workshop for its attitude. – The Vibes, January 22, 2024
