SARAWAK Parti Keadilan Rakyat has denied claims on social media that the party insisted that the next Sarawak Governor be a Dayak and a non-Muslim.
State PKR central leadership council secretary Abang Zulkifli Abang Engkeh, in a statement, said the party has never made such a stance.
He also denied claims that Sarawak PKR and Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) were pursuing a Dayak and non-Muslim-only agenda for the next Governor as head of state for Sarawak.
"We in Sarawak PKR have never made any decision to pursue such an agenda and we never made any agreement with PBK to pursue it,” he said.
The issue of the next state Governor has been a hot topic in Sarawak over the past few days.
Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had earlier said that the proposal by Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg for the next Governor of the state has been presented to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Anwar said that the proposal was presented to Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah last week. - The Vibes, January 25, 2024
