FORMER Sabah Muda chairman Amos Thien, 35, has formally joined the Democratic Action Party (DAP).
Following the move, Sabah Muda announced the appointment of Fazerah Rizalman as the next chairman.
Faezrah, who was deputy chairperson, had been leading Sabah Muda since November last year until the next party election.
Thien had submitted his application to DAP Youth chief Dr Kelvin Yii on March 17 during a party retreat in Kuala Lumpur.
Thien said he decided to join the DAP after he saw how the party operates while working closely with Luyang assemblyman Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe.
Phoong, who is also state industrial development and entrepreneurship minister, appointed Thien, a businessman, as his public relations secretary a year ago.
Meanwhile, Faezrah, 32, a software engineer and entrepreneur who was originally from Keningau will now lead Sabah Muda until the anticipated restructuring of the party at the end of April.
“Sabah Muda will continue to develop and nurture young individuals into politics. We will also ensure that Sabah Muda draws more young people to enter into politics so their voices can be heard,” she said when contacted in Kota Kinabalu, today.
In a statement on Facebook, Sabah Muda said it remains steadfast under the leadership of Faezrah and will continue to raise the people's issues, especially in ensuring the rights, welfare and education of the people of Sabah.
“Sabah Muda is also open to cooperate with any party that supports the ideology and ensures that the cooperation is for the good of Sabahans.
"As an inclusive party that celebrates differences of opinion and upholds the spirit of unity, Sabah Muda also wishes Thien the best on his new journey," the statement read. – The Vibes, April 1, 2024
