AS a sign of protest against the attacks on KK Marts around the country, a DAP man has called on Sarawakians to spend a minimum RM10 at KK Mart outlets and share it on social media.
Soo Tien Ren, who is a special assistant to Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen said they could share it with the hashtag #RM10lawanekstremis to show their support.
This follows the third Molotov cocktail attack on a KK Mart - this time at an outlet along Jalan Satok in Kuching, Sarawak on Sunday.
“It is undeniable that KK Mart had made mistakes in the ‘Allah’ socks issue, but resorting to violence against the store and its employees is unjustifiable.
“Given this, I urge my fellow Sarawakians to show support for KK Mart by spending a mere RM10 and sharing it on social media. It is time to assert our stance and demonstrate that Sarawak vehemently opposes any extremist ideologies,” Soo said in a statement today.
He said Sarawakians must recognise the extremism that is happening in West Malaysia can easily crossover to the state due to certain unreasonable people.
“I firmly believe Sarawak epitomises harmony and diversity, not just within Malaysia but across Southeast Asia.
"Sunday’s attack is regrettable and saddening and serves as a stark reminder that extremism knows no boundaries and can infiltrate even Sarawak’s shores.
“To uphold this reputation, it is essential for Sarawakians to vehemently oppose extremist and violent actions,” he stressed.
Kuching police chief Ahsmon Bajah said police are hunting for the suspect who hurled the Molotov cocktail at the Jalan Satok outlet and that the case is being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code for mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to cause damage.
