KOTA KINABALU – Shooting for the telemovie “Kusai – Lelaki Dusun Terakhir” for RTM’s Okey Channel to promote tourism in Sabah has begun in Kiulu near here.

Film producer Chester Pang and director Ramli Carlo decided to shoot the telemovie in scenic Kiulu, also famed for white water rafting.

In meeting with Assistant Tourism, Cultural and Environment Minister Datuk Joniston Bangkuai, they also proposed the setting up of a mini movie-set village in Kiulu, recreating Borneo in the 1850s.

Joniston said the set was a refreshing idea, adding that it will create jobs, accommodation and catering opportunities for locals.

“Importantly, during off-filming season, the village could be an attraction for tourists,” he said.

For example, he said, the South Korean popular television drama series Winter Sonata had attracted so many tourists to visit Nami Island where the series was shot. – The Vibes, December 17, 2020
