SARAWAK Parti Keadilan Rakyat has urged the three assemblymen from former opposition outfit Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) now absorbed into the ruling coalition to resign immediately and seek a new mandate through by-elections.
State PKR deputy chairman Senator Abun Sui Anyit today said the manner in which Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) had “absorbed” these assemblymen marked a very unhealthy political chapter in Sarawak politics.
“These three state assemblymen from the now-dissolved PSB who are now part of GPS should resign from their state assembly seats immediately.
“The voters had voted them into office during the last state election because they contested under the PSB logo which was in the opposition and the voters in their constituencies had wanted an opposition voice.
“Now, these assemblymen joined the ruling GPS, the very party they contested against during the last state election without even going back to the voters.
“That is a very unhealthy chapter in the ‘rojak’ politics of Sarawak," he told The Vibes today.
Abun, a lawyer by profession, is also Sarawak Pakatan Harapan information chief.
The Registrar of Societies had recently given the go-ahead for members of PSB to join PDP.
The three current assemblymen of the dissolved PSB were also cleared to join PDP.
On February 18, The Vibes reported that the dissolution of PSB as a political party on February 17 was officially approved by nearly 500 party delegates. – The Vibes, April 9, 2024.
