PERLIS Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli had his statement recorded for seven hours and was later released on a Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) bail.

Confirming the matter, MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said a statement would be released soon.

Met by reporters in Putrajaya, Shukri said he was still not sure why he was being probed by the MACC.

He also said he would not be called in for questioning again.

Earlier today, Azam confirmed that the MACC was investigating allegations against Shukri’s son.

He had said that investigators would determine if Shukri will be detained further after his statement.

Later, a post on Shukri’s official Facebook stated that he was allowed to go home after having his statement recorded by the MACC and was not remanded.

“MB was not remanded. He was allowed to go home after providing his statement,” read the statement posted by the administrator.

Recently, Shukri, 63, said he would leave it to the MACC to investigate his son, who was detained for allegedly falsifying claims amounting to RM600,000 over government public works contracts.

Shukri, who is also the Perlis PAS commissioner, said he will not interfere and he leaves it to the MACC to investigate his son. – April 30, 2024
