A MAN was arrested shortly after he attempted to snatch a submachine gun from a policeman at the Datuk Keramat police station in Penang.

The 35-year-old man tried to seize an MP5 submachine gun from a sentry at the station at about 7pm yesterday.

The suspect sustained minor injuries during the arrest and is currently being treated at the Penang Hospital.

“The suspect is reported to be stable, and further details will be provided later,” added the report.

The incident comes after the deadly attack at the Ulu Tiram police station in Johor last Friday.

Following the attack, police arrested five family members of the suspect, aged 19 to 62, along with two other people, all of whom were remanded for a week to assist in the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. – May 19, 2024.
