TWO men have pleaded guilty to attempting to trespass into Istana Negara on May 17, said Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa.

Rusdi said the pair, Malaysians aged 29 and 37, were charged at a Kuala Lumpur court today under Sections 447/511 of the Penal Code for criminal trespass, which carries a jail term of up to six months and RM3,000.

He said both pleaded guilty.

Rusdi said one of the two men was also additionally charged under Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958.

“The suspect did not plead guilty to that charge. The exact reason for their trespass has yet to be determined,” he said in a statement.

Police had arrested the two men who tried to trespass into Istana Negara with a parang in their car last Friday.

Rusdi said the men tried to enter the palace on Jalan Sultan Abdul Halim via Gate 3 around 4.40pm on Friday.

He said the men claimed they wanted to meet His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.

“Checks on the car led to the discovery of a parang.

“Both tested negative for drugs,” he had said. – May 20, 2024.
