THE burglary of Selangor FC footballer Khuzaimi Piee’s home in Shah Alam was a coincidence and unrelated to attacks against the club’s other player, said Datuk Hussein Omar Khan.

The Selangor police chief said that Khuzaimi’s home was not specifically targeted just because he was the owner of the house.

He said the initial investigation revealed that the suspects monitored other houses in the area prior to breaking into the footballer’s home.

He said no one was home at the time of the burglary.

A motorcycle, passport and designer bags were stolen.

“His house was not targeted because he was a Selangor football player.

“We believe the suspects chose the victim’s home as the empty home presented a lower risk for them,” he was quoted telling reporters after a function in Kajang today.

He noted that CCTV footage showed that two men were involved in the burglary.

He said the vehicle used by the suspect had fake number plates.

The 31-year-old footballer had lodged a police report alleging that his house was broken into at about 11.30pm last week.

On May 6, flamboyant winger Faisal Halim suffered fourth-degree burns after he was splashed with acid by an unidentified individual at a shopping mall in Petaling Jaya.

Following the horrific acid attack on Faisal and threats made to Selangor FC team officials, Khuzaimi feared for his family's safety.

He feared his home address could get into the wrong hands after the burglars took his passport.

“My greatest worry now is the stolen passport with our village address. I fear for my family’s safety in the village,” Khuzaimi told the New Straits Times. – June 8, 2024.
