TWELVE victims involved in the tour bus accident near Muadzam Shah yesterday are being treated at hospitals in Pahang, Johor and Malacca, said Rompin police chief Nor Azman Yusof.
He said five of them were being treated at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital (HTAA) in Kuantan, two at the Segamat Hospital in Johor, and one each at the Malacca Hospital and Muadzam Shah Hospital, respectively.
Three victims are receiving treatment at a private hospital.
“The 12 victims consist of eight teachers, two school clerks, a housewife and a student. The remaining 23 people have been allowed to return home,” he said in a text message to the media today.
The 12.40am crash yesterday at Km 126 of Jalan Kuantan-Segamat claimed the lives of four people, including two SK Jeram teachers, namely Hasnatul Adilah Hassan, 48, who succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the accident while Dahlia Ahmad, 52, died while receiving treatment at HTAA about 9.30pm yesterday.
The tour bus’ second driver Hadi Asyraf Mad Idris, 29, died en route to the Muadzam Shah Hospital in Rompin while SK Jeram operation assistant Hamzah Ahmad, 60, died at HTAA yesterday.
The tour bus ferrying 39 people – two drivers and 37 passengers – was travelling to Terengganu from SK Jeram in Masjid Tanah, Malacca when it crashed into a trailer at the Bahau junction and flipped over on its side on a slope.
The passengers were scheduled to attend a programme in Terengganu. – June 10, 2024.
