THREE individuals died in tragic circumstances when the Proton Perdana sedan they were in collided with a garbage truck and caught fire in Ipoh last night.
The Perak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they received a call about the crash at 8.05pm.
According to its director Sayani Saidon, the accident occurred at the Bercham Industrial Area.
“A team from the Ipoh Fire and Rescue Station was assigned (to head) to the location. There, they were assisted by the Tambun Fire Brigade and the Bercham Volunteer Fire Brigade.
“Arriving at the location, it was found that the Proton Perdana was 95% burnt while the front of the lorry was 50% burnt,” he was quoted as saying by Getaran, The Vibes’ Bahasa Malaysia sister portal.
Sayani said, however, that the identities and genders of the victims have yet to be ascertained.
“It is understood that the fire brigade had to use the help of a crane to move the garbage truck, before finding the three victims who had crashed in the Proton Perdana.
“The fire extinguishing operation was carried out using two streams of water from the fire engine’s tank,” he said.
The operation was led by senior fire officer II Mahmud Azaddin Mohd Najamuddin and ended around 11.35pm. – The Vibes, November 14, 2023
