PEOPLE who test positive for Covid-19 will no longer be under a home surveillance order (HSO), said the Health Ministry.
In a statement, the ministry said Covid-19 patients would be treated the same way as any other respiratory infection patients and would no longer be issued an HSO.
“Medical certificates and hospital referrals will be given based on the evaluation of a medical officer,” it said in the statement titled “Living with Covid-19”.
It said the affected individuals should avoid close interaction with others if they had to go out to seek treatment for worsening symptoms.
“Those who are in close contact with a Covid-19 positive patient must monitor their symptoms and health,” it stated.
It said Covid-19 positive individuals must also wear masks, reduce social interaction, and avoid crowded spaces.
“Those who experience respiratory symptoms must also wear a mask while being at a healthcare facility, crowded places, or spaces with poor ventilation.
“Similarly, healthcare workers must wear a mask at a healthcare facility and when dealing with patients,” it said.
The ministry warned that periodically, there would be a spike in cases and the public was advised to do its bit to prevent the spread of the virus.
It advised the public to wash and sanitise hands regularly and counselled those in the high-risk category – that is, above the age of 60 with medical problems – to wear a mask in closed and congested areas as well as to obtain Covid-19 booster shots. – July 5, 2024.
