THE Sabah Cabinet has approved salary adjustments for the state’s public service in line with the newly introduced Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA), set to take effect on December 1.
Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor announced that the adjustments will be implemented in two phases, benefiting 21,228 public servants with a total allocation of RM103,020,059.66.
The first phase will begin on December 1, with the second phase scheduled for January 1, 2025.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim introduced the SSPA, which replaces the Malaysian Remuneration System (SSM), on August 16.
Hajiji also said the adjustments will cover 2,116 part-time employees, who will now earn a minimum monthly wage of RM1,725. Their benefits will also be improved by December 1, at a cost of RM46,096,140 to the state government.
"The total allocation for salary adjustments for both full-time and part-time staff will amount to RM149,116,199.66," Hajiji said in a statement.
He added that the increments are aimed at recognizing the contributions of state civil servants and alleviating the burden of rising living costs. - October 17, 2024
