THE Education Ministry (MOE) has granted teacher Mohammad Izzuddin Izhar, 34, also known as Cikgu Din, leave to be with his wife who is currently battling cartilage cancer (Mesenchymal Chondrosarcoma)
In a statement today (October 24), MOE stated that they will also be meeting Cikgu Din to discuss his welfare and other related matters.
“The ministry (MOE) is concerned about the welfare of our teacher facing the health challenges of his wife, which has recently gone viral on social media.
“Immediate action is being taken to provide the couple with all the relevant assistance.
“The teacher has been granted leave to be with his wife and a meeting with him will be held soon to discuss his welfare and other related matters,” the ministry said in a Facebook post.
It was recently reported that a teacher was enduring sleepless nights as he was unable to be with his wife during her most trying times as his application for a transfer to the Peninsula has yet to be approved.
Sharing the heartbreaking story, Nur Atiqah My Yusoff, 30, said her husband, Cikgu Din was currently teaching Islamic Studies at SJK(C) Ming Wok in Kanowit, Sarawak.
According to Atiqah, she was diagnosed with cartilage cancer in November last year.
She said the cancer cells were also confirmed to have spread to the lungs, and doctors felt it was best she be with her husband during these times.
Atiqah, who is also a housewife, said Cikgu Din applied to be transferred to the Peninsula as soon as his wife's illness was confirmed but failed to receive any positive response.
She said her husband was informed by the officer on duty that he needed to hold a permanent employment status for 36 months before he could apply for any change. - October 24, 2024
