Federal government to reimburse Sarawak for RM1b cancer centre
Putrajaya will reimburse RM 1 billion to Sarawak for the centre to be constructed, said Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg.

THE Federal and Sarawak governments have reached a deal to construct the Sarawak Cancer Centre in  Kuching next year.

Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg said Putrajaya will reimburse Sarawak RM 1 billion for the construction of the centre.

"We will be using state funds of RM 1 billion to carry out the project and Putrajaya will then reimburse the money.

"Preliminary works will start next year. This centre is crucial in our efforts to tackle cancer cases which have increased in Sarawak," he said.

The centre will have treatment facilities as well as wards.

It will also be a venue for research and experiments to find better methods to prevent and treat cancer. - November 12, 2024
