WARISAN has distanced itself from a corruption scandal allegedly involving viral videos of several Gabungan Rakyat Sabah leaders and wants Putrajaya to remain committed to its zero-tolerance policy on corruption and abuse of power.
Party information chief Datuk Azis Jamman said Warisan reiterated its support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's anti-corruption stance but refrained from further comments on the videos.
He expressed hope that Anwar’s administration would address the matter seriously.
“This will be a test for the Madani government’s commitment to fighting corruption and abuse of power,” he said in a statement.
Azis questioned the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) approach, highlighting inconsistencies in how cases are handled.
He compared the current case to the Pandora Papers investigation, which proceeded without a whistleblower filing a report.
“Why does this case require the whistleblower to come forward when investigations into the Pandora Papers didn’t?” he asked.
Azis urged the MACC to act without fear or favour, saying public trust in the agency depends on its impartiality.
He also reminded the MACC to protect the image and commitment of the Madani government in combating corruption.
“PMX has repeatedly said that action will be taken, regardless of who is involved. Now is the time to prove those words,” he added. – December 5, 2024
