THE Netherlands has offered to help the Sarawak government to implement effective methods of flood prevention and mitigation.
Dutch Ambassador to Malaysia, Jacques Louis Warner, made the offer to Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg during a meeting in Kuching.
The Sarawak Information Department said in its press update that the Dutch Embassy in Kuala Lumpur is arranging for flood experts from the Netherlands to come to Sarawak soon.
The Netherlands have very good water management technology and methods of flood prevention and mitigation that have proven to be very effective in their home country in Europe, the department said.
"We are willing to share our methods of water management, flood prevention and flood mitigation to help Sarawak.
"We will be inviting several established private experts from our country to come over to Sarawak soon for detailed discussions.
"The Netherlands and Sarawak can cooperate in these aspects as well as in other social and economic arenas," the Ambassador was quoted as saying during the meeting.
The Ambassador and Johari also spoke about bilateral trade and industry relation issues during their meeting.
