IT is unfair to rate only Dayak ministers and elected representatives as they do not function alone in any state or federal level ministry, said Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg.
"Do not rate the performance of any ministers or elected representatives based on their race or ethnicity.
"We in the Gabungan Parti Sarawak have ministers, deputy ministers and elected representatives from not just Dayaks, but also Malays, Chinese, Melanaus and others.
"We work as a team in GPS and the respective ministries, so do not judge any of their performances by race or ethnicity.
"Rather, judge the GPS by how we bring economic transformation as a team, not as individuals," he said today.
Speaking at the opening of the RM116 mil Marudi Bridge in interior northern Sarawak, Abang Johari said the World Bank had recognised Sarawak as a high-income economy state.
That rating should reflect the overall performance of the state government, he said.
Early this month, the results of a random survey that showed the alleged overall poor performance of Sarawakian Dayak ministers and deputy ministers at state and federal levels upset several state politicians.
Several Sarawak politicians were offended and openly stated that they disagreed with the survey that criticised the effectiveness of Dayak politicians.
The survey was carried out by Prof Dr Jayum Jawan who is a member of the National Unity Advisory Council and fellow of Academy of Sciences Malaysia. - January 17, 2025
