SABAH Umno chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin has slammed the ruling Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition over an alleged corruption scandal, saying it is becoming “increasingly difficult to deny.”
He cited a recent report implicating Sabah’s Science, Technology, and Innovation Minister Datuk Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif, claiming it showed GRS leaders were willing to fabricate scripts to safeguard their positions.
“I am deeply disappointed after reading the news report which exposes an attempt by the GRS government to slander Umno assemblymen.
“This action is not only unethical but also disgraceful, as those involved are willing to do anything—including fabricating scripts—just to safeguard their positions,” he said in a statement.
Bung demanded Arifin, who also serves as the state’s Islamic Affairs Exco, explain his alleged involvement in preparing a script linking Umno assemblymen to the scandal.
“The viral video exposing Sabah assemblymen’s corruption scandal is becoming increasingly difficult to deny.
“The public is beginning to see the truth, and only staunch party supporters continue to defend what has already been exposed,” he said, urging the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to take immediate action.
He said those responsible must be held fully accountable and should not attempt to escape responsibility when the truth comes to light.
“I also see that the GRS leadership is straying further off course, like a ship lost in broad daylight, justifying any means necessary to retain power.
“However, the reality is that the vessel they are aboard is already leaking and is only a matter of time before it sinks into the sea,” he said. – February 4, 2025.
