MALAYSIAN Ambassador to the United States Tan Sri Nazri Aziz has confirmed his permanent return to Malaysia from Washington this month.

According to reports, he said he wanted to return to Malaysia to help in preparations for the next general election.

He denied that he was being “recalled” before the end of his tenure.

"I would have rejected an extension to his ambassadorship even if offered.

"I want to help Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in GE16 and would not want to be away at the time," he said as reported.

He also pointed out that he was a political appointee and not a career diplomat who signed a two-year contract with the Foreign Ministry which expires on Feb 8.

The former Umno supreme council member said he would be most probably returning to Malaysia on Feb 14. – February 7, 2025
