Parliament in session till Feb 25 - February 12, 2025

Today's Dewan Rakyat sitting will focus on several key topics, including the effectiveness of the Social Innovation Policy (DIS), the current status of female military personnel, and developments regarding the Common Bar Course.

As listed on the Parliament’s official Order Paper, Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad (BN-Simpang Renggam) is scheduled to question the Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation regarding the primary challenges in ensuring the successful implementation of the Deposit Insurance System (DIS) at the grassroots level.

His inquiry will particularly focus on the policy’s role in addressing social and economic inequalities, as well as bridging the gap between different communities.

Dr. Siti Mastura Muhammad (PN-Kepala Batas) will raise a question about the current number of female military personnel serving in Malaysia's armed forces, including those in the army, navy, and air force.

She will also inquire about the number of women deployed in international humanitarian missions as part of Malaysia's contributions to global peace efforts.

Additionally, Chiew Choon Man (PH-Miri) will seek an update from the Prime Minister on the progress made by the Legal Profession Qualifying Board regarding the introduction of a Common Bar Course or Common Bar Exam.

His question will focus on the steps taken since last year towards implementing this new examination system in Malaysia, which aims to standardize legal qualifications for aspiring lawyers.

The Dewan Rakyat session, to run for 18 days, will see MPs debate on the motion for seven days beginning Feb 4. The Parliament sitting will continue with responses from relevant ministers from Feb 19 to 25.

The schedule also includes the presentation of bills and other government business, which will take place during the last six days of the session, starting from Feb 26. – February 12, 2025
