Minister: Improved Rahmah P-Hailing Package for better worker benefits soon
“Our goal is not to help companies, but to support the riders,” Fahmi says

THE implementation of the Rahmah P-Hailing Package will be enhanced to ensure it fully benefits workers, particularly by providing affordable internet services.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil announced that his ministry would collaborate with relevant companies to analyse and assess the need for improvements to the scheme.

He explained that previous discussions had only involved telecommunication companies and p-hailing service providers, which led to the insufficient delivery of benefits to riders.

“Sometimes, the information doesn't reach the riders. So, moving forward, we plan to re-evaluate the implementation to ensure it provides full benefits to them. Our goal is not to help companies, but to support the riders,” Bernama reported Fahmi saying at the Temu Anak Muda Lembah Pantai programme, attended by around 150 people, including e-hailing and p-hailing workers.

He also addressed the issue raised by delivery workers requesting rest stops for breaks and prayers. Fahmi acknowledged the importance of providing basic amenities for riders, especially considering their frontline role during the pandemic.

“We need to look into these welfare issues now that things have returned to normal. I’ll review what can be done at the Lembah Pantai Parliament,” he added.

At the event, Fahmi distributed contributions to delivery workers in the constituency and expressed his hope that other parliamentary areas, especially those with many young people involved in the gig economy, would implement similar programs to identify and address the challenges faced by workers.

“We plan to expand this initiative, with smaller, more informal sessions for better interaction. God willing, we will organize the Iftar Perdana for Lembah Pantai riders during Ramadan,” he said. – February 16, 2025.
