THE Federal Government is sending the wrong message to the rakyat by continuing to allow Zakir Naik to preach his fiery rhetorics against non-Muslims.

Progressive Democratic Party vice-president Baru Bian said the failure on the part of the federal government to refrain Zakir is not only bad for their image, but also for Malaysia.

"The Home Ministry has the authority to ban Zakir from any public speeches as he is stirring up racial and religious issues against non-Muslims.

"The failure to act against Zakir is sending a wrong message to the rakyat.

"We are dealing with a threat to racial and religious unity and national harmony here.

"It is a national security concern," said Baru in a statement.

Baru is also state assemblyman for Bakelalan.

Yesterday, a human rights advocate here said the Sarawak government must not allow Zakir Naik to come into this state as the controversial preacher is ramping up his radical rhetorics against non-Muslims yet again.

Sarawakian human rights activist Peter John Jaban, who is also deputy president of Malaysia Global Human Rights Federation, said that Zakir is ramping up his attacks on people of other race and religions. – February 23, 2025
