PASIR MAS – Three out of the 17 General Operations Force (GOF) posts in Kelantan have been shut down temporarily after being inundated following continuous rain since Wednesday.

Kelantan Police chief Datuk Shafien Mamat said the Ibrahim Pencen Post and Pak Teh Kana Post in Rantau Panjang and Salleh Post in Jeram Perdah near here were under more than 2m of water.

He said some 18 police personnel and officers from the GOF’s 7th Battalion on duty at the posts have been moved to higher ground.

“However, they will continue with their patrol duties as usual because there are several routes which have not been flooded.

“Some other posts have also been inundated but they can still accommodate policemen carrying out patrol and surveillance duties at the border area for 24 hours,” he told reporters after visiting the Pak Teh Kana Post today.

The GOF 7th Battalion commanding officer Spt Azhari Nusi and Pasir Mas District Police chief ACP Mohammad Roy Suhaimi Sarif were also present.

Meanwhile, Azhari said that since the water level in Sungai Golok had exceeded the danger level, other posts around Rantau Panjang and Jeram Perdah might also be closed temporarily, adding that the GOF had made arrangements for large-scale patrols to continue. – Bernama, December 19, 2020
