A 17-year-old Chinese teenager has been found dead, believed to have drowned, in a swimming pool at a condominium near Meru Raya, Ipoh, on Saturday evening.

The Ipoh Fire and Rescue Station received an emergency call at 9:22 pm reporting the incident, involving the teenager who was a student at an international school in the area.

Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, Assistant Director of Operations for the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM) in Perak, stated that eight personnel, along with a fire engine and the Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit, were immediately dispatched to the scene.

"Upon arrival, it was found that the victim was lying across the pool, which was 1.2 metres deep," Sabarodzi explained in a statement.

"Rescue personnel carried out efforts to retrieve the victim from the pool and administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) until medical officers arrived," he added.

The attending medical team confirmed that the victim had already passed away.
