A MAN and his son tragically lost their lives in a devastating crash this morning, when the sand-laden trailer they were travelling in collided with a cotton-loaded trailer and was engulfed in flames on the North-South Expressway (PLUS) northbound, at Kilometre (KM) 331.8.

According to Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad, the assistant director of operations at the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), the emergency services were alerted to the accident at 7.46 am.

A team from the Bidor Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) was immediately dispatched and arrived on the scene at 7.57 am.

“The operations commander reported that the crash involved a sand-laden trailer which had collided with the rear of a cotton-loaded trailer. The male driver of the sand-laden trailer, believed to be in his 40s, was found trapped inside the vehicle, which had been completely consumed by flames,” said Sabarodzi in a statement.

The rescue team also discovered the body of the driver’s son, a man in his 20s, who was also killed in the fire. His remains were retrieved and removed by the emergency services.

“The bodies of both victims were handed over to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for further action,” he added.

The incident has shocked the local community, as authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash. - March 18, 2025
