THE Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department have recovered the bodies of two young siblings who drowned during a tragic river outing in Mukah in central Sarawak.

The bodies of brother-sister Dexper, 10, and Susie Kiu, seven, were discovered near Jambatan Kuning Sungai Mukah about 9am today.

The department, in a press update, said the bodies of the two children were recovered from the river and taken to the district hospital.

The duo had gone to the river to play near the riverbank at about 4pm on Tuesday.

They were swept away and went missing, said their mother who witnessed the incident and rushed to seek help.

A search and rescue mission was deployed shortly after a report was lodged.

The case has been handed over to the Mukah police. – March 20, 2025
