THE police have announced an internal investigation into claims of misconduct by officers during a roadblock at the Mines junction, which has gained widespread attention after a video of the incident went viral.

Serdang District Police Chief, ACP AA Anbalagan, confirmed today that the investigation will thoroughly assess whether any misconduct or violation of roadblock procedures took place during the operation.

“Investigations are being conducted, and the Serdang district police headquarters will take a firm stance if any misconduct is found to have occurred during the roadblock,” Anbalagan stated in an official statement.

He also urged the public to avoid speculating about the incident, as premature assumptions could jeopardise the integrity of the investigation.

The viral video, lasting 1 minute and 19 seconds, shows three traffic police officers stationed at a roadblock. One of the officers appears to be taking an item from a driver who had been stopped, sparking concerns among viewers about the potential misconduct. – March 24, 2025
