PROPOSALS to work from home and for Teaching and Learning at Home (PdPR) to be implemented during the ASEAN Summits in May and October next year will be brought to the attention of the Cabinet, said Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.
He said the proposals arose following the difficulties and constraints faced by the people, especially in the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, who were affected by the road closures during the state visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Malaysia.
“I wwill propose to the Cabinet that the relevant departments are allowed to work from home, and schools can implement PdPR to reduce congestion and difficulties faced by the people, especially in the Klang Valley and Kuala Lumpur.
“I also want to apologise to all those affected by the road closures during Xi’s visit,” he told Bernama and RTM at the Bunga Raya Complex, Kuala Lumpur International Airport, today.
Earlier, he and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim were present to bid farewell to Xi and his delegation as they departed for Cambodia after concluding a three-day state visit to Malaysia.
Several routes around the Klang Valley and Putrajaya were completely closed or diverted in stages from April 15 to 17 to make way for official movements in conjunction with Xi's state visit.
Although the closures were intended to facilitate logistical and safety aspects and were announced in advance, the situation has drawn complaints from road users who are stuck in severe traffic jams. – April 17, 2025
