A MOTORCYCLIST sustained injuries after he was allegedly rammed by a car during a road rage incident on Jalan Dato Yusof Shahbudin 28, Bandar Sentosa, Klang, on Saturday night.
South Klang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Ramli Kasa, said police received an emergency call from a member of the public at around 10.20pm, reporting a dispute between a car driver and a motorcyclist.
"Investigations found that the altercation began when the 50-year-old victim was swerving to avoid uneven parts of the road while riding his motorcycle," he said in a statement on Sunday.
"His actions angered the 37-year-old driver, who honked at the motorcyclist in protest."
Ramli said the motorcyclist, dissatisfied with the driver’s reaction, chased after the vehicle, leading to a confrontation at the scene.
"During the argument, the victim is believed to have struck the driver’s front windscreen with his helmet, causing damage.
"The driver then allegedly rammed into the motorcyclist, dragging the victim’s motorcycle underneath the car," he added.
The victim suffered injuries to both legs and shoulders and a dislocated left shoulder. He was taken to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital for further treatment.
"The victim is reported to be in stable condition and is still receiving medical care," Ramli confirmed.
Following the incident, police arrested the driver in Klang at 1.15am on Sunday.
"A background check revealed the suspect has four prior criminal records. He has been remanded for four days from today until Wednesday to assist with investigations under Section 307 of the Penal Code," he said.
Police have also identified a viral video related to the incident and advised the public against sharing it to prevent unnecessary public concern.
