MACC detains four individuals, including a ‘Datuk Seri’ for making RM360m claim using false details

THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) detained four individuals including a ‘Datuk Seri’ on suspicion of submitting an RM360 million claim containing false details.

According to sources, all the suspects, consisting of three men and a woman aged between 50 and 70-years-old, were detained between 4pm and 6pm today while present to give statements at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya.

“Initial investigations found that all the suspects are believed to have committed the act between 2016 and 2017.

“The four suspects are suspected of submitting a false claim worth approximately RM360 million using sukuk funds in a highway construction project in the Klang Valley worth approximately RM1.30 billion,” said the source.

Meanwhile, MACC Investigation Division senior director Datuk Zainul Darus, when contacted, confirmed the arrest and said that the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.

He said that all suspects will be remanded in the Putrajaya Magistrate's Court tomorrow morning. – April 29, 2025
