KUALA LUMPUR – Homegrown enterprise MR D.I.Y. Group (M) Berhad emerged a winner in this year’s World Branding Awards as brand of the year in the retail-home improvement category for 2020-2021.

The victory makes MR D.I.Y Group the first home improvement retailer to have won the distinguished award for three consecutive years.

MR D.I.Y Group vice-president (marketing) Andy Chin said in a statement that it was testament to the unwavering commitment, hard work, and dedication of the company’s employees towards its vision of becoming the market leader in the home improvement retail industry.

“With the public online voting conducted by the World Branding Forum, this award is also proof of the public’s trust of MR D.I.Y. as their preferred brand of choice.

“As a Malaysian brand for Malaysians, we are committed to continuously bring more value and convenience to our customers nationwide, in line with our motto of ‘Always Low Prices’,” he said, adding that MR D.I.Y. now has over 710 stores nationwide.

Chin said that the company, now listed in the Kuala Lumpur Composite Index, plans to add approximately over 300 MR. D.I.Y., MR. TOY, and MR. DOLLAR stores nationwide in the next two years.

He said while other organisations were slashing jobs during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, MR D.I.Y. held a recruitment campaign in June this year and offered 1,000 job opportunities for fresh graduates, retrenched workers, people with disabilities, and senior citizens.

According to the statement, the World Branding Awards is an annual black-tie ceremony organised by the World Branding Forum, a global non-profit organisation dedicated to advance branding principles for the benefit of customers and the branding community.

The awards honour and celebrate some of the best global and national brands for their work and accomplishments, with assessment based on brand valuation, consumer market research, and public online voting.

This year’s award ceremony will be held at Kensington Palace, the United Kingdom on March 11, 2021. – Bernama, December 22, 2020
