WORKS Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi has strongly denied allegations linking him to a corruption scandal involving the Pan Borneo Highway Sabah project (WP35), calling the claims defamatory, baseless, and politically motivated.
In a statement posted on Facebook, Nanta dismissed the accusations, which first surfaced on a Telegram channel before spreading across other social media platforms, as an attempt to tarnish his reputation and that of the Ministry of Works.
“The message contains direct accusations against me as the Malaysian Minister of Works, with defamatory, unfounded and malicious claims. I categorically deny all such allegations,” he said.
He expressed concern over the wider implications of the viral claims, warning that such slander could create public misunderstanding and erode trust in the government.
“These baseless accusations not only affect my reputation but also tarnish the image of the Ministry of Works and the government as a whole,” he added.
In response to the allegations, a police report was lodged on his behalf by his senior private secretary at the Tun H.S. Lee police station in Kuala Lumpur, urging authorities to investigate and take appropriate action.
“I will fully cooperate in any form necessary to assist the investigation and leave it entirely to the authorities to take appropriate action against those responsible for spreading this slander,” Nanta said.
He further cautioned against the misuse of false information for political gain. “The act of spreading slander should not be used as a political weapon or a means to bring someone down for personal gain,” he said. - May 8, 2025
