THE Royal Malaysia Police have busted three separate drug syndicates in a series of operations across the Klang Valley, recovering narcotics worth over RM16 million, including 205 kilograms of syabu concealed in vehicles and properties used as drug storage facilities.
The operations were conducted by Bukit Aman and Kuala Lumpur Narcotics Criminal Investigation Departments on April 29, and on the following Monday and Tuesday.
Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said five men, including a foreign national, were arrested in the raids, which were the result of public tip-offs and police surveillance.
“These syndicates were found hiding syabu in cars, as well as using shop lots and condominium units to store the drugs, which had a total estimated value of RM16.01 million,” he said during a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur Police Headquarters today.
In the first case, police arrested two men, one of whom is a Filipino national, during a raid in Ampang on April 29. A car on Jalan Memanda 1, Ampang Jaya, was found to contain 58.42 kilograms of syabu packed in 56 bundles.
Further investigation led to a second car in Jalan Madrasah, Taman Melati, which held another 146.76 kilograms of syabu. The total seizure in the case amounted to 205 kilograms, worth RM6.56 million.
“The syndicate is believed to have sourced the drugs from Kelantan, stored them in vehicles, and distributed them across the Klang Valley. This was likely their first operation in Kuala Lumpur,” Rusdi said, adding that both suspects have been remanded for 10 days from April 30 to May 9.
In the second case on Monday, a 45-year-old man was arrested with 1.86 grams of syabu. He later led police to a shop lot at a shopping mall in Jalan Imbi, which was being used as a drug storage facility.
“There, police found 221 kilograms of syabu valued at RM7.07 million. The syndicate is believed to have been active since February, storing drugs in public areas to avoid detection,” Rusdi said. The suspect, who tested positive for methamphetamine and has five prior criminal records, is under remand until May 11.
The third operation on May 6 led to the arrest of two men aged 23 and 33 at a luxury condominium in Taman Mastiara. Police seized over 17 kilograms of various drugs including ketamine, ecstasy pills and powder, and Erimin Five, worth RM2.38 million.
“Also confiscated were RM320,250 in cash and two vehicles. The syndicate used the upscale condo as a drug processing and storage site,” he said.
Altogether, the seized narcotics could supply up to 3.2 million drug users. All cases are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. - May 8, 2025
