EMBRAER, a global leader in the aerospace sector, is set to showcase its advanced KC-390 Millennium tactical transport aircraft at the 17th Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA), scheduled to take place from 20 to 24 May 2025 in Langkawi, Malaysia.

Bosco da Costa Junior, President and CEO of Embraer Defence and Security, commented: “Embraer is proud to bring the KC-390 to LIMA 2025. The aircraft is gaining traction around the world, and we look forward to expanding our footprint in the Asia Pacific region.”

Described by the manufacturer as the most advanced in its category, the KC-390 Millennium is a new-generation, multi-mission aircraft tailored to meet the complex operational demands of the 21st century. The aircraft is capable of flying faster – up to 470 knots – and further within a standard crew duty day. With a payload capacity of 26 tonnes, it offers superior cargo capabilities compared to other medium-sized military transport aircraft. It is powered by two IAE V2500 engines.

According to Embraer, the KC-390 is designed to operate effectively across Southeast Asia’s varied terrain and climate, including from temporary or unpaved runways such as compacted earth, soil and gravel. It performs reliably in diverse conditions ranging from humid and hot environments to high-altitude or cold and dry settings.

“It can perform a wide range of missions such as transporting and dropping cargo and troops, medical evacuation, search and rescue, humanitarian missions, firefighting and air-to-air refuelling both as a tanker and a receiver,” the company stated.

Equipped with a comprehensive suite of modern sensors and communications systems, the KC-390 facilitates essential connectivity between airborne assets, command structures and ground troops. The aircraft’s robust electronic warfare and self-protection systems further enhance its survivability.

“The aircraft has achieved an outstanding mission accomplishment rate of 99 per cent with low operational costs. Its multi-mission capability and interoperability are built-in by design, enabling the aircraft to be ready for all mission profiles by Air Forces,” the company added. - May 15, 2025
