THE grieving wife of Corporal Amiruddin Zabri, one of nine policemen who lost their lives in a fatal crash involving a Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) vehicle on 13 May, is finding solace in memories and the unwavering support of her community.
Norazian Mohd Joned, 38, an administrative assistant at the Kampar District Police Headquarters, said she and her three children continue to be comforted by photos and videos of her late husband.
“Alhamdulillah, we have many pictures and videos of my late husband. The most heartbreaking moment is when my youngest, just one year and three months old, calls out to him when we play the videos,” she said from their home in Kampung Sungai Itek.
She remembered Amiruddin as a deeply faithful man who often spoke of death with acceptance and peace. “He once told me that Allah’s promise is never delayed, not even by a minute,” she recalled.
Though grief remains overwhelming, Norazian is committed to staying strong for her children. “I take each day as it comes,” she said.
In a gesture of solidarity, the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) visited the family under its ‘Ziarah Kasih’ outreach. Its chief operating officer, Mastura Mohd Khalid, presented RM4,000 in financial aid under the Simpan SSPN Prime scheme, which Amiruddin had opened just days before the tragedy, on 7 May.
The aid included RM1,000 in takaful protection and RM3,000 in death benefits. “We hope this will help alleviate some of the family's burden and support the children’s educational future,” said Mastura.
The family expressed gratitude for the continued support from the public and government agencies, which they say has brought comfort during their time of mourning. - May 18, 2025
