FAEKAH Husin, former political secretary to the late former Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim, has suggested that the internal criticism currently faced by PKR Deputy President Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli is a form of political karma.
“This is karma,” Faekah said on Rafizi’s recent remarks, choosing not to elaborate further.
Faekah, who played a central role in Khalid’s political and administrative team, said she was trying to move past the painful episode that saw Khalid ousted by his own party in 2014.
“Let it remain part of a dark chapter in history, one I myself am trying to forget. Most of the story is already known to PKR members and the people of Selangor,” she said on Monday.
“I only want him (Khalid) to rest in peace and be placed among the righteous in the gardens of paradise,” she added.
Her remarks follow Rafizi’s public expression of frustration over alleged internal sabotage within PKR. During a ‘Hidupkan Idealisme Reformasi Dalam Ujian Rakyat’ (HIRUK) tour stop in Ipoh, Perak, on Sunday, the Economy Minister criticised certain individuals in the party for feigning reconciliation while secretly undermining him.
Rafizi, who is defending his post in the upcoming 2025 party election, warned of a growing culture of backstabbing ahead of the polls — a dynamic that some observers have compared to the internal party moves that led to Khalid’s dismissal.
Khalid was sacked from PKR on 9 August 2014 after he refused to vacate the Selangor Menteri Besar position, despite being instructed to do so by the party leadership. The attempt to replace him with then party president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail was part of the controversial *Langkah Kajang* political manoeuvre — a strategy widely associated with Rafizi at the time.
Ultimately, the Selangor Sultan rejected PKR’s sole nominee, and Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali was appointed as Menteri Besar instead. Khalid, formerly CEO of Guthrie Bhd, had held the post since 13 March 2008 before formally resigning on 26 August 2014. - May 20, 2025
