KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia today recorded 2,062 new Covid-19 cases, with the Klang Valley accounting for 1,518 of them.

Selangor recorded 1,014 new cases, while Kuala Lumpur recorded 504.

The cumulative tally of cases in the country now stands at 97,389.

One death was also recorded today, taking the death toll to 439.

Of the 17,646 active cases, 11 required intensive care and 51 required ventilators.

The ministry also recorded 911 recoveries, bringing the total number of recoveries to 79,304, or 81.4% of overall cases. There were also four imported cases.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said, as of today, a total of 459 clusters have been reported, including eight new ones.

The total number of clusters that have ended are at 253, including three that ceased to record new cases – the Summer, Kota Kecil and Tenaga clusters.

Of the total, 52 clusters recorded an increase in cases today. The Tapak Bina Residen cluster recorded the highest number of cases (294), followed by Pasar Baru (270) and Seruling (221).

The new clusters are Pasar Baru in Klang and Kuala Langat with 309 cases, Bukit Naga in Klang (58), Tapak Bina Residen in Kuala Lumpur (294), Tapak Bina Kasih in Kuala Lumpur (43) and Tapak Bina Sinar View in Kepong (32).

The new clusters also included the Paginatan cluster in Kota Belud (47), Tampoi Jaya in Johor Baru (32) and the Rapat cluster in Kinta and Perak Tengah (7). – The Vibes, December 22, 2020
