THE Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) have confirmed they are investigating an incident in which a young female employee was allegedly assaulted by her employer at a business premises in Taman Rishah, Ipoh.
The altercation, which went viral online, reportedly began when the employee inadvertently opened a sealed envelope addressed to her employer.
In the widely shared footage, the employer—believed to be the company’s owner—can be seen in a fit of rage, violently slamming the woman’s laptop, causing it to strike her in the face.
Ipoh District Police Chief ACP Abang Zainal Abidin, in a statement released following the video's circulation, confirmed that the 24-year-old victim had lodged a police report on 22 May at approximately 2.10pm.
“Initial investigations found that the complainant was performing her duties when a misunderstanding occurred,” he said.
“The victim had mistakenly opened a sealed envelope intended for the suspect, prompting the latter to push the laptop she was using, which resulted in it hitting her face.”
The victim was later treated and examined at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in Ipoh.
She recounted in her report, “At around 12:50pm, I received a letter addressed to my boss. I opened it and found it to be a credit card statement. As a financial clerk, I handle all of the owner’s credit card statements, which are paid for by the company.”
The police are investigating the case under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt.
ACP Abang Zainal also confirmed that statements have been taken from several witnesses present during the incident to aid the investigation.
“The identity of the suspect has been identified, and follow-up action will be taken in accordance with legal procedures,” he said.
The police have urged the public to refrain from circulating the video or sharing unverified information related to the case, so as not to interfere with the ongoing investigation. - May 26, 2025
