THE female suspect arrested in connection with the recent acid attack on a 27-year-old spa operator in Beris Kubur Besar, Bachok, was the last person to book an appointment with the victim prior to the incident, police confirmed today.

Kelantan Police Chief, Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat, said although both suspects—a woman and a man—have been detained, the victim is unable to identify them as the female suspect was wearing a niqab while the male suspect had his face covered with a mask during the attack.

“We are still carrying out further investigations to determine the motive behind the incident, and both suspects remain in remand to assist with the case,” he said when contacted.

The attack occurred on 17 May, near a convenience store in Beris Kubur Besar, Tawang. The victim, Nor Faziera Muda, was doused with a liquid believed to be acid by two unidentified individuals.

She sustained serious burns on her shoulders, back, arms and legs, and is currently receiving treatment at the Universiti Sains Malaysia Specialist Hospital (HPUSM).

Police investigations are ongoing. - May 27, 2025
