A 41-YEAR-old man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman with what is believed to be a pistol grip during a road rage incident near Jalan Kelawai in the early hours of Saturday.

Northeast District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Abdul Rozak Muhammad, said the incident occurred at approximately 2.20am following a traffic dispute between the suspect and the 28-year-old woman as they drove through the area.

“The victim lodged a police report at 5.56pm the same day, stating she had sustained serious injuries to her nose and eye after being struck with an object believed to be a pistol grip,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

According to police, the suspect later turned himself in at the Northeast District Police Headquarters at 9.30am.

Subsequent investigations led to the seizure of a pistol, a magazine containing bullets, and a firearms licence booklet.

Abdul Rozak confirmed that the case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt and Section 34 of the Arms Act 1960. Investigations are ongoing. - June 3, 2025
